House fire in Saltdean prompts evacuation and damages property
Firefighters respond as blaze takes hold of roof in Lenham Avenue
A house fire in Saltdean has led to substantial property damage and the evacuation of nearby homes.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident on Lenham Avenue after receiving reports at around 9pm on Wednesday (12 August).
The fire tore through the roof of the house, prompting emergency precautions, including the evacuation of neighbouring properties to ensure resident safety.
Despite the severity of the blaze, no injuries have been reported.
By 10.40pm, fire crews had begun scaling back their efforts at the scene.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will be conducted.
