A Sussex village is banding together to save its only pub - that's almost four centuries old.

A community ownership scheme's being launched today, so residents can buy back the Kings Head in East Hoathly.

It's after months were spent searching for new owners to take over the pub, after its previous tenants announced they were giving it up after 25 years.

The offer's being launched at the pub at 1pm today, with live music and traditional pub games.

Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, has backed the plans - and said: “Sussex Weald pubs and breweries contribute a huge amount locally both to our local economy and to the social life of our communities.

"I was pleased to meet with the Kings Head Community Benefit Society to support their aims, vision, and plans for the Kings Head’s future.

"If you can, do come along this weekend to hear more about the Community Share Offer and how you can be part of a legacy ensuring that East Hoathly continues to have a successful and sustainable business that benefits the local community.”
