Brighton and Hove Albion have announced £40 million pounds' worth of improvements to the Amex Stadium to improve the matchday experience for Seagulls supporters.

The changes will see an eagerly-awaited fan zone outside the Falmer ground opening in the spring, featuring large screens, bars and food and drink stands.

Bosses say its capacity for 1,000 fans in the colder months and 2,000 in the summer - thanks to the ability to expand it outdoors - makes it the biggest of its kind in the Premier League.

Other changes will see away supporters moved out of the North Stand and into the south-west of the ground, in order to add an extra tier of 800 seats and hospitality areas for home supporters.

The change, which will increase the capacity of the ground to 32,500, is expected to come into place in time for the 2026/27 season.

Hundreds of extra seats are being added to the North Stand as part of the £40m development

Deputy chairman and chief executive Paul Barber said,

"I know our fans are looking forward to the opening of the new fan zone and are extremely excited to see these plans come to life. It is another incredibly generous investment by our chairman Tony Bloom.

"The Terrace will provide a brilliant addition to the matchday experience, as a place to meet friends before and after matches, watch live sport in a modern space, and enjoy a wide variety of food and drink offerings.

"We will also be looking to utilise The Terrace for a range of different events and occasions in between matches too, providing a fantastic new venue for fans, the community and visitors to the city to enjoy.

"We will be sharing further details between now and the spring, such as opening times and food offerings, but we will work with the best local Sussex suppliers to provide a great range of options."

'The Terrace' is expected to be the biggest fan zone in the Premier League when it opens in the spring

Among the other changes being included as part of what the club calls the 'Albionsation' of the site includes a new two-tier club shop.

The current one will close, along with Dick's Bar, following the end of Albion's match with Arsenal on January 4th to allow for the refurbishments.

The expanded store at the Amex will take up space that previously housed the club museum and Dick’s Bar and better cater for the huge increase in demand, especially on matchdays.

The club museum will relocate to a permanent base in the city centre in 2026/27, with further details being announced in the spring of 2025.

Albion has previously announced that safe standing will be introduced from next season in part of the North Stand, with an extra area set to be added in the South Stand in the coming years.

The club has also said will also be continuing work on plans to secure a permanent site for a new, purpose-built women’s stadium back in the city.

The Women's Super League side currently play their games at Crawley's Broadfield Stadium.
