PD Ava finds crucial evidence in wooded area
A police dog successfully located a weapon after a woman was stabbed in Seaford.
Officers arrived on the afternoon of 28th July at Chalvington Field, where the victim was found with injuries, including a wound to her hand.
The woman received medical treatment on site as officers conducted a search to find the suspect.
Police Dog Ava, an 18-month-old German Shepherd, was assigned to locate the weapon.
Despite the blistering heat, Ava led her handler through wooded terrain and discovered the weapon.
The item was seized for forensic examination, and Ava earned her favourite rope ball as a reward.
Officers soon discovered the suspect nearby, identifying him as Jason Tilly, a 35-year-old from Chalvington Close, Seaford.
Tilly was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm.
He is scheduled for a plea hearing at Lewes Crown Court on 27th August.
