Hundreds of people are expected to join Brighton's Muslim community in a huge Open Iftar later today.

People of all different faiths and beliefs are invited to join them in breaking the fast at the Brighton Dome.

It's part of a country-wide movement by the Ramadan Tent Project, who have been organising the events for the past thirteen years.

Iman Razak, who is leading Brighton's event, said it unites the community:

"I think it's really important, especially in the day and age where we're living in, where there's a lot of divisions and people are turning away from each other.

"Acts like just breaking bread with someone and having food and sitting together can be really impactful on bringing the community together."

Food is shared in a way Iman describes as "like pass-the-parcel", to encourage conversation and hopefully lasting bonds between the people there.

"The message it sends is that we are a part of British social fabric.

"We are a part of the communities. There's more that unites us than divides us."
