Men armed with axe and knife burgle St Leonards home

The occupant of a house was assaulted during a break-in

Two men, armed with an axe and a knife, are alleged to have been involved in an aggravated burglary in St Leonards-on-Sea.

Sussex Police tell us a property on Kenilworth Road was broken into at around 2.40pm on Wednesday (12th February).

A man in his 40s, in the house, was assaulted during the incident - being struck in the face.

The victim also stopped a woman outside, acting as a lookout.

Armed officers attended the scene, but no suspects have been traced.

The suspect carrying the axe is described as:

  • Black man
  • Aged in his 20s
  • Around 6 feet tall
  • Medium build
  • Wearing a black balaclava
  • Black hoodie
  • Dark trousers

The suspect carrying the knife is described as:

  • White man
  • Around 35 years old
  • 5 feet 8 inches tall
  • Medium build
  • Short brown hair
  • Small amount of stubble
  • Wearing a black hoodie

The female lookout's described as:

  • Around 35 years old
  • 5 feet 6 inches tall
  • Average build
  • Short brown hair tied back
  • Wearing a baby blue hoodie

Detective PC Chris Diamond said: "While we believe this is an isolated incident, it has naturally raised concerns among the local community and we are working hard to investigate this matter.

"If you have any information, witnessed anything, or have relevant footage, we ask you to get in contact, it could be vital to our investigation and assist in identifying those responsible."
