Man pleads guilty to serious sexual assaults on woman in Brighton
A 60-year-old man from Brighton has admitted the rape and sexual assault of a woman he met in the city last summer.
Peter Phillips, of Madeira Place, pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday 20 January.
He met his victim, a 34-year-old from Worthing, in June 2025 and invited her to a festival where he plied her with alcohol and drugs.
He then attacked the woman after taking her to a hotel
He has been remanded in custody to appear for sentencing on 10 April 2026.
Detective Police Constable Ryan Dale, investigating, said: “Phillips has shown himself to be a highly dangerous and calculated sexual predator.
"We would like to thank the victim for her immense courage in coming forward and for supporting us in bringing him to justice.
“I encourage any victims of violence against women and girls, in any form, to report these crimes. It is never too late to seek justice.
"You are not alone, and help is available."
