Man charged in connection with police stand-off in Hove

A man has been charged following a nine-hour stand-off involving armed police officers in Hove.
Police were called to serve an arrest warrant on a man at an address in Portland Road last Thursday (March 6th).
He refused to come to the door when officers attended and was believed to be in possession of a firearm.
Police officers continued to negotiate with him throughout the afternoon and a section of the road was closed as a safety precaution.
Several hours later, the man was safely arrested and taken to custody.
47-year-old Jack Robson, of Portland Road in Hove, has been charged with with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of cannabis.
He appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (March 8th) and was remanded in custody to appear before crown court on April 7th.
