Man charged with murder after woman found dead in West Sussex
Sussex Police say the victim was known to the suspect
A man has been arrested and charged with murder following the death of a woman in Durrington.
Police were called to Durrington Lane, Worthing, at around 7.50pm on 14th May due to concerns for a woman's welfare.
Emergency services discovered a 65-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and assaulting a police officer.
On 16th May, Alexandru Nechifor, 37, of Durrington Lane, Worthing, was charged with murder and two counts of assaulting a police constable.
He remains in custody and is set to appear at Worthing Magistrates' Court on 18th May.
Enquiries have revealed that the victim and Nechifor were known to each other.
Police Investigation Continues
Detective Inspector Amanda Zinyama, from the Major Crime Team, said: “This remains fast moving investigation and our thoughts continue to be with the woman’s loved ones at this extremely difficult time.
We understand this incident will have caused concern in the local community; however, we continue to believe it to be an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.”
