Disabled Littlehampton 8-year-old shares being 'left out' of PE classes
It's as charity Whizz Kids launches a fresh campaign urging for more inclusivity in schools.
A Littlehampton 8-year-old says she's been left out of PE lessons because she is a wheelchair user.
Amber, who has muscular dystrophy, is talking to Greatest Hits Radio as charity Whizz Kids launches a fresh campaign urging for more inclusivity in schools.
It added that young wheelchair users consistently miss out on things like PE, school trips and work experience - and could face another year of doing so if nothing changes.
Amber tells us she was unable to take part until she got an electric wheechair:
"I felt sad and left out.
"I wasn't able to join in with things without an adult, but now I can.
"My mum used to have to come and push me around on school trips but now I can do it myself."
Whizz Kids' research found just 20% of wheelchair using students say PE lessons are fully accessible to them, while under half say school trips are made fully accessible.
Amber added that life is "more fun" now she's supported to do what she enjoys - including playing with her friends.
