Joel Veltman leaves Brighton after six years
The Dutch defender is bidding farewell to the Amex
Joel Veltman has officially left Brighton & Hove Albion after his contract expired earlier this week, concluding a six-year tenure with the club.
The Dutch defender joined Albion from Ajax in 2020 and made 191 appearances.
During his time at Brighton, Veltman served as an ambassador for the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation, contributing to community causes since 2022.
Chairman Tony Bloom praised Veltman's contributions to the club, stating, “Joel has been a terrific player during his six years with us. He has delivered on and off the pitch as we had hoped."
Bloom highlighted Veltman's involvement in Brighton's historic qualification for European competition, where they finished sixth, securing a spot in the Europa League.
Beyond the pitch, Veltman and his family were significant supporters of the Foundation's initiatives, demonstrating commitment by attending and contributing to numerous events.
The 34-year-old departs having been instrumental in elevating the club to finish in the Premier League's top ten on four occasions.
Albion expressed gratitude for Veltman's efforts and wished him success in his future endeavours.
