A 34-year-old private hire driver from Hastings has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of a series of sexual offences uncovered across two investigations.

Abdulhamid Alammar, who lives in the Baldslow area of St Leonards-on-Sea, appeared before Brighton Crown Court on 5 May. He was handed a total sentence of three years behind bars, along with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting 10 years.

One of the incidents dates back to November 2024, when a woman in her 30s booked a journey home from a friend’s address. During the trip, Alammar diverted from the agreed route and drove to a secluded location, where he sexually assaulted her.

The case came to police attention during inquiries into a separate allegation made in April 2025 by another woman in Hastings. After the earlier offence was reported, officers launched an investigation and ensured the victim received support from specially trained staff.

At the time he was charged over the November incident, Alammar was already in custody in connection with the April case. In October 2025, he was convicted of sexual assault relating to that matter, although he was acquitted of more serious charges.

Following the conclusion of both trials, the court dealt with all offences together at sentencing, resulting in a custodial sentence and long-term restrictions aimed at safeguarding the public.

Detective Constable Christina Bales, of the Hastings Safeguarding Investigation Unit, said: “These were serious and predatory offences committed against women who should have felt safe. I would like to commend the victims for their courage in coming forward and supporting the investigation.

“Tackling violence against women and girls remains a priority for Sussex Police. We are committed to proactively identifying and relentlessly pursuing offenders, while working closely with partners to safeguard victims and prevent harm. Everyone has the right to feel safe, whether at home or in public, and we will continue to take robust action against those who commit these offences.

“We remain committed to ensuring victims of sexual offences receive support and that offenders are brought before the courts.”
