Government urged to show 'courage' in supporting innocent Brits jailed abroad

The son of an East Sussex couple jailed in Iran says the government must show more courage in future cases.
Lindsay and Craig Foreman have been imprisoned for a year and a half after being accused of spying on an around-the-world motorbike trip.
The pair are now over two months into a hunger strike to fight for their freedom.
Joe Bennett told Greatest Hits Radio not fighting for innocent residents imprisoned abroad "sets a dangerous precedent":
"Ultimately, my parents are innocent and it's opened my eyes.
"I was naive before, didn't think that this happened. Now it has happened.
"I think if the sentence and, you know, the process and everything is a sham and they are innocent of any wrongdoing, which the UK government has indicated themselves, then there has to be a different level of fight."
The family have welcomed the appointment of Alistair Burt as envoy for complex consular cases, and hope it'll improve the approach to supporting Lindsay and Craig.
The Government previously described the couple’s 10-year sentences as “completely appalling and totally unjustifiable”.
"We will continue working to ensure that Craig and Lindsay are returned safely to the UK," The FCDO added.
