Gatwick airport station named sixth busiest train station outside London - see stats for Sussex here

Gatwick Airport train station has retained its title as the busiest in Sussex.

According to stats released by the Office of Rail and Road, almost 19,500,000 entries and exits were made there last year- up around 3,000,000 on figures from last year.

That makes it the sixth busiest of any station in Great Britain outside of London!

Gatwick Airport train station is also the most travelled to/from London Victoria.

Brighton:

• 14,547,650 entries and exits of all tickets

• 980,746 interchanges

• Main origin or destination station: London Victoria

• 1,827,938 to or from Victoria

Horsham:

• 2,245,714 entries and exits of all tickets

• 173,975 interchanges

• Main origin or destination station: London Victoria

• 516,602 to or from Victoria

Worthing:

• 1,924,236 entries and exits of all tickets

• 33,158 interchanges

• Main origin of destination station: Brighton

• 407,156 to or from Brighton

Crawley:

• 1,287,172 entries and exits of all tickets

• 2,246 interchanges

• Main origin or destination station: Horsham

• 216,916 to or from Horsham

Falmer:

• 1,210,808 entries and exits of all tickets

• 0 interchanges

• Main origin or destination station: Brighton

• 546,246 to or from Brighton

Despite Falmer having a population of under 250 people, it's one of the most used in Sussex.

Thanks to its placement directly next to Brighton and Hove Albion's Amex Stadium, thousands of football fans use it to get to the ground from the city every weekend.
