Four arrested 'on suspicion of kidnap' in Hailsham

Four people have been arrested ‘on suspicion of kidnap’ following an incident in Hailsham over the weekend.

Sussex Police say they were called out to Hawks Town Crescent at around 9:25pm on Saturday (28 March) to a report of threats to kill.

One 16 year old boy suffered minor facial injuries.

A 16-year-old boy and two men aged 18 and 21, who were arrested on suspicion of common law kidnapping.

Another 16-year-old boy was arrested for possession of a class B drug in addition to common law kidnapping.

All suspects have been released on bail while further enquiries are conducted.

Detective Inspector Daniel Dugan commented on the ongoing investigation:

“We are pursuing multiple lines of enquiry in connection with the incident.

"There will be an increased police presence in the area as well as in the vicinity of Bailee Avenue, Eastbourne whilst the investigation continues.

"I’d like to reassure the public that there is no wider risk to the community.”
