Fire service tackle field blaze at Pevensey
Locals were advised to keep doors and windows closed, but there were no reports of injuries.
Fire crews were called to reports of a fire in a field at Church Acre Drove in Pevensey at around quarter past three this afternoon.
An engine and two 4x4 vehicles were sent to the scene where approximately 50 square metres were alight. Crews damped down the fire with a hose reel and also used CO2 to extinguish a burning telegraph pole. A second engine was sent to help.
By 4pm, beaters and a hose reel jet were being used to put out the fire. Local people were warned to keep doors and windows closed.
There were no reports of injuries.
