Warning over fines for Christmas trees dumped in Brighton
It's as 23 Christmas tree recycling sites open across the city today
People in Brighton are being urged to dispose of Christmas trees properly - or potentially face a fine.
It's as 23 Christmas tree recycling sites open across the city today, until the 6th of February.
The city council says leaving them beside a communal bin and on the pavement or road counts as fly tipping.
It added that those with a garden waste subscription can for the first time ever have their tree picked up alongside their usual collection - by leaving it next to their garden waste bin.
Any trees collected will be recycled into soil improver or compost.
We're also reminded to make sure any pots and decorations are removed before trees are recycled.
Putting the tree to good use after Christmas
Alongside it's collections, the city council has also suggested re-using trees for different purposes.
It included replanting a rooted tree in your garden and using it again next year, creating and wildlife shelter, and using branches to keep tender plants warm.
