Durrington residents urged to shape transport plans for better local journeys
Consultation opens for local views on bus, crossing and congestion solutions
Last updated 20th Oct 2026
Residents in Durrington are invited to participate in shaping new transport proposals aimed at enhancing journey reliability and safety.
The proposals focus on improving bus journey times, pedestrian crossing facilities, and addressing congestion to ensure better travel to work, schools, local shops, and Durrington-on-Sea Station.
These proposals are part of the West Sussex Transport Plan, which supports healthier communities, a sustainable environment, and a prosperous economy.
Feedback from a 2024 consultation on transport improvements between Durrington and Goring has informed the current proposals, centred on The Boulevard. West Sussex County Council is now seeking residents' opinions on the latest plans.
Improvement plans include enhanced pedestrian crossings, bus priority measures on The Boulevard, and junction modifications to ease congestion and improve road safety.
Councillor Erika Woodhurst-Trueman, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: "These proposals aim to support better journeys by enhancing public transport, encouraging walking, cycling, and wheeling, and easing traffic flow. We encourage residents to share their views to shape the future of these initiatives."
