Sussex Police officer who crashed into roundabout drunk banned from driving
23-year-old Connor Farrell also lost his job
A former Sussex police officer who crashed into a roundabout drunk - then fled the scene - has been banned from driving.
23-year-old Connor Farrell, who was a learner Detective Constable, also lost his job after pleading guilty to driving over the limit.
He was caught after police were called to reports of a single vehicle crash at the Ridley's Corner Roundabout in Crawley, just before 1am at the 19th of May.
Farrell abandoned the car and headed home - but enquiries traced him as the owner and he was arrested after failing a breathalyser test.
An misconduct hearing later found he breached standards of professional behaviour.
Detective Superintendent Andy Wolstenholme said: #
“Police officers are bound by the Standards of Professional behaviour whether on and off duty.
“Drink driving is entirely wrong, as is leaving the scene of the accident – this former officer knew that and chose to do both regardless anyway.
"Quite rightly he has been held accountable for his behaviour and conduct and will never serve in policing again.”
