Bognor man charged after assaults on police during drink-driving arrest in Middleton-on-Sea

One officer needed hospital treatment

A man has been charged with drink-driving after police responded to a situation in Middleton-on-Sea involving a vehicle found stationary in the middle of the road.

Officers arrived at Lane End Road on Sunday, 1st March at 6pm, where they found a man appearing to be asleep at the wheel.

During the encounter, two police officers were assaulted, with one sustaining a head injury requiring hospital treatment.

Raimonds Vilde, 40, from Sycamore Road, Bognor, faces additional charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and assaulting the police officers.
