Crews tackle barn fire in Ditchling

East Sussex Fire & Rescue say the have controlled the fire which was reported in the early hours of this morning.

A large fire is being controlled by East Sussex Fire & Rescue in Ditchling.

The service were called to reports of a barn fire in Ditchling at 4.20am on Saturday morning.

Crews attended the scene at the rear of St George Park, Ditchling Road.

A barn containing approximately 200 tonnes of hay is alight.

The service updated shortly after 8am that two fire engines were in use as well as a water carrier.

Crews are carrying out a controlled burn, and are protecting hay nearby to ensure it does not also catch fire.

There are no reports of casualties.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and keep doors and windows closed as there is a lot of smoke in the area.
