Hundreds of people are being supported by a Christmas food and gift drive in Crawley.

Charity the Easter Team - based next to the County Mall - are hoping to help everyone enjoy the festive season.

Alongside their usual food parcels, which are offered year round, they're now offering up Christmas veg and items such as advent calendars, perfumes and even teddies - with around 500 people expected to visit over the next week.

Sharon Golightly, their chair of Trustees, said:

"Everything that you and I would have for Christmas, we've tried to make sure that they also have access to.

"Sadly it's vital all year round, but families really are struggling to make ends meet and this just helps them get through without too much pressure."

She added that their demographic has changed from mainly being people accessing universal credit, to "single people, couples and families":

Support goes "a really long way"

"We're seeing more and more people that are on low income that just can't make the ends meet."

Ross, who collects food parcels from the service regularly, was also given two coat for his dog.

He describes the charity's work as 'amazing':

"For some people it can make all the difference - like myself.

"I'm struggling at the moment, and this is going to go a really long way for me.

"I appreciate everything they do so much."
