Choir sings to demand release of East Sussex couple on anniversary of detention in Iran
Lindsay and Craig Foreman have been imprisoned since last January over spying charges
A choir's coming together to demand East Sussex couple's freedom, a year after they were first detained in Iran over spying accusations.
Family, friends, and former hostages are coming together in Trafalgar Square to perform a rendition of 'Stand by Me' before delivering a petition to government demanding for more action over the release of Lindsay and Craig Foreman.
The pair were arrested during a stop-off in the country while on a motorcycle trip in January 2025.
Since, their son Joe Bennett says Craig has been "crammed into a cell with a hundred and sixty people" - and added there's been no updates from a consular visit which took place on the 29th of December.
"This is not good enough. It feels like the families are an afterthought." he said.
An FCDO spokesperson said:
“We are deeply concerned by reports that Craig and Lindsay Foreman have been charged with espionage in Iran. We continue to raise this case directly with the Iranian authorities.
“The FCDO are providing them with consular assistance and remain in close contact with their family members.”
Meanwhile, a Run and Ride campaign is continuing to fundraise for the couple's release.
People are being encourage to walk, run and ride the remaining distance of the couple's planned journey to Australia.
