A Chichester musical theatre graduate's landed a role in an award winning West End musical.

John Browning will be a standby to the lead roles of King George III, George Washington, Aaron Burr, Hercules Mulligan and James Madison in the musical Hamilton.

The production tells the story of American founding father, Alexander Hamilton.

John described the achievement as "an absolute dream come true" - as it's his "dream musical and West End Debut all in one go."

The actor previously spent time in roles on various cruise lines.

He said of the audition process:

"Each round becomes harder as they try to fine tune what they are looking for, slowly decreasing the amount of actors auditioning for the role.”

Andrew Wright, the University of Chichester's Programme Leader for Musical Theatre Performance said:

“Huge congratulations to John for landing a starring role in the West End.

"It’s a testament to the quality of training we offer here at University of Chichester and we can’t wait to see him in action.”
