Charity left “heartbroken” after devastating break-in and theft
A charity has been left “heartbroken” after a break-in at its premises resulted in the theft of valuable items.
Staff discovered the damage on Monday, describing the incident as far more devastating than previous break-ins.
The organisation said the impact goes beyond the loss of property, disrupting its ability to support vulnerable people across the community.
In a statement, the team said the incident had deeply affected staff, adding that dealing with the aftermath had taken them away from their core work helping those in need.
They also expressed concern that the break-in may have been driven by desperation.
“It’s especially difficult to come to terms with the thought that this may have been an act of desperation,” the statement said.
“That someone who could have turned to us for help instead felt they had no choice but to take matters into their own hands.”
Police have been notified and an appeal for information has been launched.
Anyone who saw or heard anything, no matter how minor, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 47260062161.
The charity thanked the public for their continued support, adding that community compassion and vigilance are vital as they recover from the incident.
