A Brighton man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of rape and sexual assaults against two women.

Sam Soyoye, 32, of Windsor Street, was convicted at Lewes Crown Court on 3rd September of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

He was remanded in custody following his conviction and was sentenced at the same court on 6th November to 10 years in prison, with all sentences to run concurrently.

The offences involved two women, both strangers to each other, who were attacked in separate incidents in Brighton.

In June 2024, Soyoye invited a woman to his address in the early hours and raped her. In a similar incident in September 2024, he invited another woman to his home and sexually assaulted her.

A thorough police investigation led to Soyoye’s arrest, charge, and eventual conviction.

Detective Aimee Collier, from the Brighton Investigations Unit, acknowledged the courage of the victims and emphasised the importance of supporting survivors of such crimes.

“This sentencing reflects the seriousness of the crimes and the lasting impact they have had on the victims," Detective Collier said.

"We would like to commend the bravery of both women in coming forward and supporting the investigation. Sussex Police remains committed to investigating all reports of rape and sexual assault and ensuring victims receive the support and justice they deserve.”

Support and advice for victims of sexual offences is available via the Sussex Police website.
