Charges brought after knife incident in Brighton
Two men injured and suspect detained in Silwood Street attack
Authorities have authorised charges following a concerning knife incident in Brighton's Silwood Street.
The incident occurred on the evening of 27th June, where a man reportedly approached two local individuals wielding a knife.
A 29-year-old victim suffered a facial slash injury, while another man was also attacked.
Both victims received hospital treatment and have since been discharged.
During the episode, the suspect allegedly attempted to steal a pedestrian's dog but was thwarted by bystanders who detained him until law enforcement arrived.
Toby Sousa, a 33-year-old with no fixed address, was taken into custody at the scene.
He is now facing multiple charges, including two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm, threatening a person with a blade, and affray.
Criminal Investigations Detective Sergeant Harry Judge commented:
"Following a series of fast-paced enquiries, charges have now been authorised in this case, and Toby Sousa is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Monday, 29th June."
