Two men injured in Brighton street attack involving knife
Police investigate after Sillwood Street incident
A 33-year-old man is in custody following an assault involving a knife on Sillwood Street, Brighton, which took place on Saturday evening, 27th June.
Two local men were injured during the incident, which occurred just before 6pm.
A 29-year-old man sustained a slash to his face and ear, receiving hospital treatment before being discharged.
The other victim, a 28-year-old man, was struck in the face through a taxi window and was assessed at hospital.
Following the assaults, the suspect chased and grabbed hold of a dog before being tackled by members of the public, and the knife was seized. The dog remained unharmed.
The suspect, who is local to the area, was arrested for assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent.
Detective Inspector Stephen Taylor stated:
"This was a distressing and serious incident and the victims are being supported by officers.
“A thorough investigation is underway to ensure we have a full picture of what happened.
"Witnesses have come forward and we thank them for helping us in our investigation.
“Our neighbourhood policing officers are patrolling in the area and if anyone has any concerns they should speak with them.”
Police are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information to reach out.
