Tributes continue to pour in for Billy Vigar following his sudden death of Chichester City footballer Billy Vigar.
The 21-year-old had been playing in the Isthmian League against Wingate and Finchley when he collided with a brick wall.
The match was soon halted after 13 minutes and was eventually abandoned as an ambulance arrived at the scene.
It was later revealed the incident left Vigar with a brain injury that eventually required him to be placed in a medically-induced coma.
In a statement released by Chichester City, it was confirmed that Vigar had died from his injuries, adding: "The responses to the original update show how much Billy was thought of and loved within the sport.
"His family are devastated that this has happened whilst he was playing the sport he loved."
Since then, flowers have been left at Oaklands Park in Chichester in honour of Billy as fans of the team express their shock at his sudden passing.
Cards left at the site read: "Can't believe we are doing this, such as young and talented player. Heaven has gained a striker."
Meanwhile, Chichester City have confirmed that its upcoming clash against Lewes in the league - that had been due to take place on Saturday (September 27th) - was now being postponed.
It comes as a petition has been launched in honour of the striker to call for the removal of brick walls and hard structures that surround football pitches.
The petition, which has already has been signed by over 3,000 people reads: "The death of Billy Vigar is a stark reminder that these walls are not merely unsafe—they are lethal.
"Others have suffered broken limbs, spinal injuries, and head trauma. Each injury was predictable and entirely preventable."
The petition later called on clubs and local councils to step in and provide a "safe environment" for players and fans alike.
