Chichester City Football Club has confirmed that forward Billy Vigar is in an induced coma after sustaining a significant brain injury.

The incident happened during the club’s match against Wingate & Finchley on Saturday, September 20.

In a statement released on Monday, the club said Vigar is currently in intensive care receiving “the best possible treatment.”

“It is too early to say what the outcome will be and even if things go well, there will be a long road to recovery,” the statement read.

The 21-year-old joined Chichester City earlier this season.

The club has said no further comment will be made at this time.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the non-league football community, with supporters and fellow clubs sending messages of support for Vigar and his family.

Chichester City concluded its statement by thanking fans for their understanding during what it described as a “difficult and worrying time.”
