A29 shuts for 10 days as landslip repairs continue - three years on
A permanent solution's still not been found to fully reopen road where banks collapsed in December 2022.
A vital road through Pulborough is shutting for ten days as work continues to fix a three year old landslip.
A permanent solution's still not been found to fully reopen the A29 Church Hill, where banks collapsed in December 2022.
The route will close from today (20th of April) to clear vegetation growing alongside the road, and for a routine inspection of the banks, which are lined with concrete blocks.
Drivers will be diverted through the A29, Billingshurst, A272, A24, and A283.
Landowner appeal dismissed
The latest movement in re-opening the road happened in January.
A court hearing saw the landowner's appeal to statutory notices asking them to carry out tree work was dismissed.
A date is not yet set for when these works will take place.
Negotiations are still underway for permission for the ground and soil to be tested, which is necessary for a permanent solution to be designed.
