Yateley man jailed for 22 years for sexual offences against child
Victim courageously speaks out as abuser sentenced to lengthy prison term
A man from Yateley has been handed a 22 year prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple rape and sexual assault charges against a child.
33 year old Luke Ridley's crimes came to light when the victim, who was 11 years old at the time, disclosed the horrific abuses to a family member in January 2021 during the first lockdown.
She further revealed that Ridley had been sexually assaulting her at least twice a week since she was five years old.
Yesterday, the victim, now 17 years old, faced Ridley in court to deliver her victim impact statement.
She expressed: “You made me a victim, but today I stand in front of you a survivor."
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Butterworth, who led the investigation, praised the victim’s bravery and resilience.
He stated: “Her courage in giving evidence, both during the police investigation and the trial, has ensured that Ridley is brought to justice for his abhorrent crimes."
