Former England striker Jermain Defoe has left his role as Woking manager after just 116 days in charge, saying "it was impossible" to continue.

Mr Defoe was appointed on the 29th of March and spent six league games in charge during his brief tenure.

Woking expressed their gratitude to Defoe for his contributions and wished him success in his future endeavours.

In his statement, Defoe highlighted challenges that led to his departure, saying, “Unfortunately, circumstances have ultimately made it impossible for me to continue in the position.”

He thanked Chairman Todd Johnson and the players, expressing disappointment at the journey ending so soon.

Meanwhile, Woking remains focused on its goals, including preparations for their upcoming game against Sutton in August.

The club thanked its supporters for their continued loyalty.
