Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision occurred on the M25 near Bletchingley.

The incident took place shortly before 10am today, involving a white Mercedes Vito van and a white lorry on the clockwise carriageway between Junctions 6 and 7.

The van driver, a man in his 30s, sustained serious injuries, received treatment at the scene, and was airlifted to hospital.

Emergency services have closed the M25 carriageway between Junctions 6 and 7 to manage the scene and facilitate recovery efforts.

The collision resulted in oil spillage, causing damage to the road surface, with National Highways engineers evaluating the situation before reopening the carriageway.

Currently, the exit slip road at Junction 6 is operational, allowing traffic to leave and re-enter the motorway, while diversions are in place via the M26 and local roads.

Drivers are requested to avoid the area and stay updated through National Highways and local information channels.

Surrey Police continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone who witnessed the collision or possesses dashcam or helmet-cam footage to come forward.

Authorities appreciate the cooperation and patience of motorists during the incident response and temporary road closures.
