Witness appeal after serious collision in Newdigate

Police are appealing for witnesses, after a serious collision in Newdigate.

Officers were called to Broad Lane at the junction with Parkgate Road around 1.30pm on Monday 1 June, to reports of a collision involving the driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital, with serious injuries.

The van driver, a man in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision, or who may have CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident, to get in touch.
