Surrey golf club vandalised with swastika
Local MP Monica Harding said the incident was 'deeply concerning'
An investigation is underway after a Surrey golf club was targeted by vandals.
Surrey Police visited Thames Ditton and Esher Golf Club last Tuesday (18 February), after officers received reports that a swastika had been carved into one of the greens overnight on 15 February.
The force say enquiries remain ongoing and patrols have been stepped up in the area.
It is believed that two dirt bikes may have entered the premises and caused damage on previous occasions. These included reports of dirt bikes entering the premises and causing damage on 11 January 2025 and two reports in November 2024.
Local MP Monica Harding visited the golf club and said this behaviour would not be tolerated:
"The golf club has been enduring persistent acts of vandalism over recent months, with the latest incident being a deeply concerning hate symbol that has no place in our community and will not be tolerated.
"I have been speaking to the police about this over the weekend and this week to discuss how they can apprehend the offenders and safeguard this important community asset. They are increasing their patrols in the area and all lines of enquiry are being explored.
"If you can help to identify those involved or provide any other information which might help enquiries, then please contact the police quoting crime ref PR/45250018945. If you do not wish to leave your name, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
"The golf course is on public land and is a fantastic asset to our community. It has provided a cherished space for residents who have been coming here for fresh air and recreation, for over 100 years. I will continue to work closely with the police and the golf course to ensure we do all that we can to prevent these distressing incidents from happening again."
