Three people who carried out a terrifying doorstep attack in Surrey have been jailed.

On the 5th of February 2024, Surrey Police say Casandra Howlett, Melvyn Beech, and Jason Storey travelled from Guildford to an address in Mytchett and 'inflicted fear and violence on their unsuspecting victim.'

When they arrived at the address, Howlett began banging on the victim’s door and demanding that the victim come out. When the door opened, Beech punched the victim in the face and barged into the address armed with a bladed article, believed to be a knife.

The group made threats to hurt the victim, demanding he give them money and drugs, and after searching through his belongings, the trio left with just £20 worth of goods.

53 year old Melvyn Beech, of Firsway, Guildford, was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment for aggravated burglary, threatening a person with a bladed article and common assault.

31 year old Jason Storey of no fixed address was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment for aggravated burglary.

35 year old Cassandra Howlett, of Cedar Way, Guildford, was sentenced to 6 years for aggravated burglary.

Detective Constable Dan Baldwin who oversaw the case said "We understand that this incident will have caused distress to both the victim and the community and although concerning, this was a targeted attack.

"We want to reassure you that we will always take this type of offence seriously. We hope that the outcome from last Tuesday shows that we are committed to tackling this type of behaviour".
