Applications are now open for Tandridge District Council’s Winter Support Scheme, aimed at helping residents on low incomes cope with the rising cost of essential items.

The £150,000 grant fund, provided entirely by the council’s own resources, will offer financial support to those who are struggling to afford essentials including food, fuel, or energy bills. Grants will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until the funding runs out.

Eligible households without children can apply for £125 while those with children can request £225.

Applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis and the scheme will close once all funds have been allocated.

Successful applicants to the scheme will receive a one-off payment either at the end of January 2026 or at the end of February 2026.

To be eligible for the scheme, applicants must:

  • Be 16 or older
  • Live within the Tandridge district
  • Be experiencing financial difficulties

Evidence, such as three months of bank statements showing transactions, will need to be submitted online as part of the application process.

The scheme is open to households even if they have received assistance through other initiatives, like the government’s Household Support Fund, earlier this winter.

Applications can be made on behalf of eligible residents as long as the funds go directly to them.
