Two kittens who survived being left in a plastic bag taken in by Byfleet Cat Rescue
The rescue says it will do everything it can for the pair
Two kittens who survived being abandoned in a plastic bag are being taken in by a cat rescue charity in Surrey.
Byfleet Cat Rescue says the pair will get medical attention, warmth and safety in its care.
They were among four kittens found in the bag by a man walking his dog at around 10pm on Sunday evening.
The other two kittens didn't survive.
The rescue hasn't yet said how the surviving kittens are doing.
'You are safe now'
In a post on social media, Byfleet Cat Rescue said: 'The two surviving kittens will now be coming into the care of Byfleet Cat Rescue, where we will do everything we possibly can to ensure they receive the medical attention, warmth, safety and love they so desperately deserve.'
Byfleet Cat Rescue said: 'And to the two little survivors, you are safe now. We will do everything we can for you.'
The rescue thanked the man who found the kittens and called for help.
Byfleet Cat Rescue said: 'We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful gentleman who found them and reached out for help. Without him, the outcome could have been even more tragic.'
Who's caring for them
Byfleet Cat Rescue became a registered charity in April 2026 and takes in abandoned and stray cats across Surrey and surrounding counties.
It's a foster-based rescue, which means its cats are looked after by volunteers in their own homes rather than in a rescue centre.
The charity says it will share updates once the kittens are safely in its care.
Call for owners to seek help
It's not known who left the kittens or how long they had been in the bag.
The rescue is urging anyone who can't cope with unwanted cats or kittens to ask for support.
Byfleet Cat Rescue said: 'Please, if you are struggling with unwanted kittens or cats, reach out for help. Abandonment is never the answer.'
