H2 Surreyās pledge to plant 1.2 million trees
The tree giveaway forms part of Surrey County Councilās tree strategy, which aims to plant 1.2 million treesāone for every resident in the countyāby 2030.
Since the launch of the strategy in 2019, 768,332 trees have been planted with the support of schools, communities, businesses, residents, and volunteers.
Marisa Heath, Surrey County Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Planning, has credited residents for their contributions to the scheme
āOur tree giveaways are always popular events and are a great opportunity for residents to be part of a Surrey legacy while tackling the impact of climate change and improving biodiversity.
Since our pledge in 2019, 768,332 trees have been planted and we couldnāt have done this without the ongoing support from schools, communities, businesses and residents, and of course the volunteers who have helped with the planting itself.ā
