Surrey firefighters respond to multiple fires overnight
Crews have tackled a wildfire in Woking and house blaze in Horley
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service reported multiple incidents overnight, responding to fires in Woking and Horley.
At 12.15 am, a wildfire broke out on Brentmoor Heath in West End, Woking, affecting one hectare of heathland. Surrey Fire and Rescue deployed eight vehicles, including fire engines and specialist wildfire units, to contain the blaze.
Residents near Brentmoor Heath were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke. The crews confirmed at 6.20 am that there were no remaining hotspots and have since left the scene.
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service thanked the community for their support and urged individuals to adopt preventive measures during the hot, dry weather.
They encouraged people to take their litter home, swap barbecues for picnics, avoid lighting campfires or bonfires, and dispose of cigarettes properly.
Earlier, at 11.05 pm, the service responded to a house fire on Charlesfield Road in Horley.
Four fire engines attended the scene, where all individuals were safely accounted for.
Residents nearby were asked to close windows, and avoid the area as fire engines blocked the road.
Surrey Fire and Rescue reported that the Horley fire had been extinguished in the early hours today and expressed gratitude to the local community for their cooperation.
