Surrey Fire & Rescue Service have issued advice due to fear of wildfires in the county.

They have said that the hot and dry weather has heightened the risk of a wildfire.

Surrey has had a number of significant wildfires in recent years, including Thursley Common in 2020 and Hankley Common in July 2022.

They have issued an advice video on their social media accounts advising people of measures they can take to avoid wildfires.

They say to avoid the use of disposable barbecues, campfires, and to make sure no litter is left behind after a picnic.

The service also say to call 999 immediately if there is any sign of a fire and not to assume someone else has already made the call.
