Surrey Charity donates $2,300 for aid delivery in Ukraine
Surrey Stands with Ukraine has financed the delivery of 5 tonnes of aid to the frontlines in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast region
A surrey based charity has donated $2,300 to finance the delivery 5 tonnes worth of aid in Ukraine.
Surrey Stands With Ukraine's aid partners Fort Volunteers delivered 727 hygiene packs to the Zaporizhzhia Oblast region in Ukraine last week.
They've received a message back from one of the villages the aid has reached. The statement said that the help was not just material, but it was morally uplifting and gave faith in the future and victory.
It also said: "Each package you bring is warmth, hope and proof that we're not alone in our grief"
Nick Budd who works as a volunteer for the charity described receiving the message as "incredibly humbling".
The Zaporizhzhia Oblast region is located close to the fighting, Nick says that these places are very reliant on help from volunteers.
He says: "These communities are dependent on volunteers taking hygiene products, humanitarian aid and food to their locations just to be able to help them to exist."
Nick also emphasised the importance of raising awareness of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He says: "It's just about awareness and spreading the word, talking about it with friends, colleagues at work, family members that this horrific situation is still occurring".
