A 16-year-old from Surrey says she's determined to make cancer treatment easier for other children after being diagnosed with a rare life limiting brain-tumour earlier this year

Neve, from Ash, was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a form of tumour which develops in the brain stem

Since then Neve has raised over £21,000 for cancer research, treatment and care

A third of the money raised is going into care packages being put together by Neve for other children going through cancer

She told us more about what's in the packages

"In the packages, there's going to be loads of things like toys and books and games, but the main thing is that they're going to have a teddy where they're going to get to pick from hundreds of jumpers that I'm creating to put on their teddy because when I was really scared during my radiotherapy, I had a teddy with me.

Then once they finish, they'll get a certificate and a little medal for their teddy."

Neve says she's determined to make a positive out of such a negative event her life

"Because my type of cancer has no cure, the whole experience for me has become quite negative. And so I do want to, you know, quite a lot of kids will have types of cancers going for radiotherapy that are able to be cured.

I'm wanting to try and make it a little bit more positive and a little bit more easier for them to go through it."

The rest of the money raised will go towards two charities close to Neve's heart

One third of the money raised will go to Abbie's Army funds research into Neve's specific tumour

Another third will go towards Sophies Legacy, a local charity which supports parents and children in local hospitals.

Neve told us she was really touched by the amount of money that has been raised

"A lot of it has come from people in my community. I definitely feel really loved and really appreciated that, you know, these kids that I went to high school with or someone that knew me when I was a baby has donated and it just makes me also so proud of the cause."
