Sunbury-on-Thames man jailed for controlling and coercive behaviour

40-year-old Sean Brady admitted a string of offences at Guildford Crown Court after his ex-partner told police about five years of abuse.

A man from Sunbury-on-Thames has been jailed for two years and five months for admitting to controlling and abusive behaviour, strangulation, and damaging his ex-partner’s car.

40-year-old Sean Brady pleaded guilty after his victim shared details of five years of abuse with police.

She completed various statements detailing the controlling and coercive behaviour Brady displayed and how he would aggravate situations.

Throughout this period, the abuse became progressively worse resulting in the woman being assaulted several times. Brady would regularly throw objects at her and on one occasion strangled her.

Officers have commended her for coming forward.
