Man who raped and psychologically abused women jailed for 19 years
The 24 year old attacked and abused a woman in Bristol and a woman in Surrey
A man from Bristol has been jailed for 19 years for a series of sexual offences, including rape, against two women.
24 year old Ethan Nolan was found guilty of:
-Three counts of rape
-Two counts of controlling and coercive behaviour
-One count of sexual assault by penetration
-One count of sexual assault by touching
-One count of intentional strangulation
In 2022, he raped a woman he was in a relationship with while she slept at her home in Bristol. He then tried to manipulate her and convince her it was normal.
His abusive behaviour continued into a relationship with another woman in Surrey in 2023.
He coerced her into changing her lifestyle, restricted her social interactions, and exploited her financially.
Nolan escalated his abuse through physical violence and twice raped the woman within a few months.
After a six-day trial at Bristol Crown Court in January, he was convicted on all charges.
As part of the sentencing, Nolan also received a lifelong restraining order and a mandate to remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Detective Constable Nat Stone, from Surrey Police's Sexual Offences Investigation Team, described Nolan as a dangerous individual whose actions have caused profound harm:
" I would like to take this opportunity to highlight the courage of both victims to come forward and tell Police what happened.
"Thanks to their bravery and support over the last two years, Nolan will now serve a significant amount of time behind bars."
