Rural task force in Hampshire recovers stolen machinery worth over £570k
Ongoing efforts are continuing to tackle theft of agricultural machinery
The theft of agricultural machinery is a growing concern for rural communities in Hampshire and across the UK.
Organised criminal networks transport this high-value machinery nationwide and overseas, affecting farmers and businesses alike.
Between June last year and March this year, Hampshire's rural task force has seized goods valued at approximately £574,550.
These recoveries include stolen items, largely plant and farm machinery worth £463,300, many of which have been returned to their owners.
Other seizures were related to equipment or vehicles believed to be involved in criminal activity.
Continuing Efforts and Collaborations
On 7th May, law enforcement teams conducted comprehensive vehicle stop checks focused on those transporting heavy loads and agricultural machinery.
Officers collaborated with a Data Tag representative, checking the identity of each piece of machinery.
More than 30 vehicles and over 20 pieces of farm machinery were examined during this operation.
Although no stolen equipment was found on this occasion, two men, aged 35 and 53, were arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
The rural task force's efforts highlight the ongoing commitment to curbing machinery theft in Hampshire, safeguarding property and supporting community wellbeing.
