Gatwick to launch new robot valet service in UK-first
It's hoped to be available later in the summer season
Gatwick Airport is set to become the first in the UK where you can get your car parked by a robot.
The new valet service, which is currently only in operation at Lyon Airport, is hoped to be in place later in the summer season and streamline the parking process.
It works after passengers park their car in a dedicated cabin, before a robot slides underneath it and moves it to an allocated parking spot.
Head of Passenger Operations, Nick Williams, is hoping holidaymakers "are going to love it":
"It's a really cool concept, we're really looking forward to testing it more and seeing passengers enjoy it."
He added that the service doesn't require travellers to drop off their keys.
The airport is bracing itself for another busy summer, with millions of passengers jetting off to over 230 destinations.
It's busiest days are expected to be the first, second and third Sundays of August, with around 900 flights scheduled.
