M3 closure for bridge installation between junctions 3 and 4
Motorway to shut in both directions from Friday 11 to Monday 14 July for major bridge works
The M3 will be fully closed in both directions between Junction 3 (Bagshot) and Junction 4 (Frimley) from Friday 11 July to Monday 14 July to allow for the installation of a new footbridge.
Closures will begin at 12 noon with the southbound entry slip road at J3, followed by the northbound carriageway (J4 to J3) at 7pm, and the southbound carriageway (J3 to J4) at 9pm.
All lanes are scheduled to reopen by 6am on Monday.
A signed diversion will be in place, but drivers are urged to allow extra travel time as local roads around Blackwater, Bagshot, Camberley, and Windlesham are expected to be heavily congested.
The previous footbridge was removed in late 2023 due to structural concerns. The new bridge, designed to safely accommodate pedestrians and cyclists, is set to enhance local connectivity.
Improvement works are also being made to nearby alternative footpaths, addressing vegetation, lighting, and drainage issues.
