A senior doctor at the Royal Surrey has described a new six million pound renovation of their cancer care facility as "hugely transformative".

The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre in Guildford has been officially reopened by Paralympian Erin Kennedy - who received treatment there after being diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in 2022.

The project includes a new waiting area, additional bathroom facilities and a dedicated sensitive conversation suite.

Erin Kennedy, who added her second Paralympic gold last summer in Paris to her three world and four European titles, said “I feel so comfortable in this hospital and I think what they;ve done here in creating the new centre is now taking steps to match the world-class care that I received."

Head Of Oncology Doctor Sophie Otter said "The feedback has been excellent from both patients and staff. We did use patients to help design the centre so that we knew that we were going to have something that was fit for purpose but the feedback has surpassed our expectations."
